This beautiful hand-painted slate features an old wagon sitting in a snow-covered countryside.

Recycled slate shingles from roofs of old New England houses, hand-cut and relatively smooth, are base coated with a background color and hand-painted with acrylic paints. Each slate is sealed with a protective gloss coating and comes with a brown or black leather rope ready to be hung inside or out.

The artist can add a name to the bottom of the slate (example: The Brown's) and/or "WELCOME" to the top of the slate at no additional charge. It is recommended that you select the larger slate when adding "WELCOME" and a family name since this limits the actual area left to do the painting.

Slates and Sleds was originally established in 1986 and provided customers with oil painted wood sleds mostly for the Holiday Seasons. As business increased, other hand-painted items, including metal sawblades, slates and tin, were added to the product line. Today Slates and Sleds sells in shops throughout New England and provides customers with unique and hand-painted gifts for many occassions throughout the year. They make perfect gifts for house warmings, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas, Holidays and yourself.
