Hardwood Cutting Board

When you have a busy woodworking shop, wood scraps tend to pile up. What to do with all that pretty wood? Here's one solution: hardwood cutting boards! Our handcrafted cutting boards are made from pieces of wood that normally would have been disposed of or burned because they were too short or too thin for other projects. Used to make these attractive cutting boards, they're just right.

Every cutting board we make is different! Each cutting board is approximately 16" long and 10" wide. These measurements will vary somewhat, as will the thickness. The boards usually will be between 5/8" and 1" thick. The woods will vary on each board as well, depending entirely on what leftover woods we have available. Some of the woods that may be used include: maple, reclaimed Brazilian cherry, alder, American cherry, reclaimed mahogany, oak, and walnut.

Each cutting board is hand finished with several coats of peanut oil, an edible oil that creates a tough, easily renewable finish and a good look.

Information
Laughing Coyote Woodworks is a small woodworking business that makes its home in the Green Mountains of southwestern Vermont. Our 2-person business began in 1991. We focus on handmade wooden furniture, clocks, and accessories of our own design with a nod of recognition to the Mission and Shaker styles of furniture-making. Laughing Coyote Woodworks' creations are all handmade and hand-finished. We use the most environmentally responsible materials possible in their manufacture. These include sustainably harvested woods, salvaged woods, and vegetable oils and shellac for finishes. Laughing Coyote Woodworks is also happy to build custom orders of just about anything. If you can imagine it, we can build it! And when we say "custom design", we mean it. If you order a custom piece from us, it will be the only one like it that we build.
