Fireplace Bellows with Contrasting Woods

These fireplace bellows are a beautiful and functional accessory for anyone's fireplace or woodstove. Unlike many bellows available in stores, these are not flimsy "decorative accessories". They are built for people who depend on their fireplace or woodstove for heat and who appreciate that a good set of bellows is a valuable tool (although we think they are beautiful as well!)

We make them from a variety of contrasting hardwoods, our choice, depending upon wood availability, but they are all quite similar. The darker wood is always in the middle unless someone special orders just one kind of wood. Some of the woods we have used are: cherry, maple, reclaimed Brazilian cherry, alder, American cherry, reclaimed mahogany, walnut, and cedar.

We finish the wood with tung oil, a natural vegetable oil that enhances the depth of the wood grain. The bag consists of 2-3 ounce leather, very supple and able to produce a strong draft. We build the bellows with a strong steel hinge (covered by the leather) for dependability and a long life. The nozzle is copper.

They come with a rawhide lace tied to the handle, making them easy to display. They measure 20-1/4" long, 7-3/8" wide, 5" deep when open, and 2" deep when closed.

Laughing Coyote Woodworks is a small woodworking business that makes its home in the Green Mountains of southwestern Vermont. Our 2-person business began in 1991. We focus on handmade wooden furniture, clocks, and accessories of our own design with a nod of recognition to the Mission and Shaker styles of furniture-making. Laughing Coyote Woodworks' creations are all handmade and hand-finished. We use the most environmentally responsible materials possible in their manufacture. These include sustainably harvested woods, salvaged woods, and vegetable oils and shellac for finishes. Laughing Coyote Woodworks is also happy to build custom orders of just about anything. If you can imagine it, we can build it! And when we say "custom design", we mean it. If you order a custom piece from us, it will be the only one like it that we build.
